Cheesy Penne Bake

Ingredients:


  • 200g of penne noodles
  • 50g of margarine
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of pepper
  • 200ml of milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 150g of sharp-cheddar cheese
  • 50g of flour
  • 30g of brown sugar

Instructions:


  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Boil a pot of water, add the penne noodles, and cook until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, melt the margarine over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until combined.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and is smooth.
  • Remove from heat and beat in the eggs, salt, and pepper until fully combined. Stir in half of the sharp-cheddar cheese, reserving the other half for topping later.
  • Combine the cooked penne noodles with the cheese sauce; mix well to coat the noodles evenly.
  • Pour the mixture into a baking dish and sprinkle the remaining sharp-cheddar cheese on top.
  • Sprinkle brown sugar over the cheese for a sweet and crunchy topping.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
